Bentley Map V8i Fundamentals

Guides students through the fundamental functionality of Bentley Map. Starting with feature placement and editing, through interacting with various other GIS data sources and setting up Maps. From there the student learns how to search and browse the non-graphical attributes, produce thematic maps and perform data analysis. Topology cleanup and creation is covered. Cadastral mapping and 3d tools introduced for the student to further investigate on their own. Dataset uses real topology data for the entire class.

SKILLS TAUGHT

  • Introducing Bentley Map
  • Using the Map Manager
  • Placing and Editing Features
  • Browsing and Searching for Features
  • Interoperability
  • Creating Thematic Maps
  • Creating Buffers and Overlays
  • Printing

Bentley Map V8i Administrator

Bentley Map Administrator takes the student through the process of completely setting up a Geospatial Project from scratch, using the Geospatial Administrator (GSA). This will include PBS, PBA, criteria, domain lists, placement and editing scenarios and workspace setups. Some database attributes will also be associated with feature definitions. We will also include initial (seed) values for feature attributes, and touch on using expressions to define property values and annotation string. New for SS3 is the brief explanations of SQL Server and WFS direct connect graphical sources discussions. Extensive exercises with testing of results and reference material included in the course manual.

SKILLS TAUGHT

  • Define and maintain an XFM project in Bentley Geospatial Administrator;
  • Administer the print application and edit coordinate systems in Bentley Map;
  • Create a cadastral XFM schema with Bentley Cadastre Wizard.
